Private Tuition in Perth and Kinross

Learning is a lifelong process for everyone, but of course there are some points in our lives where the learning process is more intense than others – during our school years, for example. One-to-one tuition can help make the exam years less stressful.

Classroom learning offers many extremely valuable opportunities: being taught by experienced educational professionals, who are experts in their field; exchanging knowledge and discussing topical issues with classmates; and engaging in both individual and group research. For many students, a classroom environment provides everything they require to thrive academically. However, it’s important to remember that we don’t all learn in the same way.

One-to-one tutoring allows students to:

  • Learn in a way that fosters a growth mindset and acknowledges personal learning styles.
  • Concentrate on specific areas of the syllabus that they wish to explore in more depth.
  • Consolidate their learning in a quiet, relaxed, distraction-free environment.
  • Work at a slower pace on subjects or topics they find more challenging.
  • Plan a practicable revision schedule for prelims/mocks and SQA, GCSE or A-level exams.
  • Develop their exam strategies (with regard to planning, timing, answer techniques, etc.).

Each learner processes, absorbs and retains knowledge using a unique combination of learning styles (including visual, auditory, read-write and kinaesthetic). Understandably, it’s not easy to address all these individual requirements simultaneously in a classroom setting, and that’s one of the reasons why some primary and secondary pupils benefit from working with a private tutor.  Working one-to-one with a student allows a tutor to find the most effective ways of encouraging each individual learner to be curious, to learn and to grow.

“The ability to learn is not fixed; it can change with your effort.” – Carol Dweck, Professor of Psychology, Stanford University.
